CANFORD GROUP COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF LEMONAID MOTOR LEGAL
Canford Group is pleased to announce the acquisition of Lemonaid Motor Legal, a leading independent provider of first notification of loss and motor claims management services.
The acquisition extends Canford Group’s capabilities across the motor claims lifecycle, from the point at which an accident is first reported through to litigation and the recovery of a client’s losses.
Lemonaid joins Canford Law, Canford Law Scotland and PDC Group as the fourth specialist business within Canford Group.
EXTENDING THE GROUP’S MOTOR CLAIMS CAPABILITIES
Based in Rotherham, Lemonaid provides white-label first notification of loss and claims management services to motor insurance brokers.
The business triages claims and works with a panel of specialist service providers across credit hire, vehicle repairs, recovery and storage, salvage and personal injury. Lemonaid’s expertise at the beginning of the motor claims journey complements the legal and litigation capabilities already present within Canford Group.
The combination will give the Group greater visibility across the lifecycle of a claim and create opportunities to provide a more connected service to insurance brokers and their customers.
Lemonaid will continue to operate under its established brand and will remain led by Managing Director Luke Baker and the existing senior leadership team. Luke will also retain a significant equity interest in the business, ensuring continuity for Lemonaid’s colleagues, broker clients and commercial partners.
The acquisition will enable Lemonaid to benefit from Canford Group’s legal expertise, technology and wider operational resources while retaining the specialist focus, client relationships and service-led culture that have driven its success.
LEADERSHIP COMMENT
David Nash, Group CEO of Canford Group, commented:
“The completion of this acquisition marks another important step in the development of Canford Group, and I am extremely pleased to welcome Lemonaid alongside Canford Law, Canford Law Scotland and PDC Group.
“From my earliest conversations with Luke, it was clear that there was a strong alignment between our businesses in terms of culture, ambition and how we believe clients and colleagues should be looked after. For me, that alignment is fundamental. We are not looking simply to add businesses to the Group. We want to work with talented people who have built strong specialist businesses, invest in what already makes them successful and give them the support and resources to achieve more.
“Luke and his team have built an excellent business with strong broker relationships and an impressive reputation for service. Lemonaid also brings expertise at the beginning of the motor claims journey, complementing the legal and litigation capabilities already present within Canford Group. This gives us an opportunity to provide a more connected service throughout the lifecycle of a claim and creates an exciting new dimension for the Group.
“Working with Luke ahead of completion has been incredibly enjoyable. I am now looking forward to working with him and the wider Lemonaid team and am excited by the opportunities this relationship will create for clients and colleagues across both businesses.
“I am delighted to welcome everyone at Lemonaid to Canford Group and look forward to building the next stage of our businesses together.”
Luke Baker, Managing Director of Lemonaid Motor Legal, said:
“I am incredibly excited that Lemonaid Motor Legal is entering a new chapter as part of Canford Group, in partnership with Queen’s Park Equity.
“Reaching this point demonstrates what can be achieved by bringing together great people, brilliant relationships with customers and suppliers, and the ambition that has always been at the heart of Lemonaid.
“David Nash, the wider Canford Group team and Queen’s Park Equity share that same ethos. This makes the combination feel like a natural fit and will allow us to continue investing in our people, our capabilities and the first-class service Lemonaid delivers.
“Canford Group’s expertise will allow us to remain closer to the complete client journey, from the initial accident through to legal representation and the recovery of our clients’ losses. That is an important step forward for Lemonaid, our team and, most importantly, our clients and partners.”
Matthew Donaldson, Chairman of Canford Group, added:
“We are delighted to welcome Luke and the Lemonaid team to the Group. The talent and capabilities Lemonaid bring are highly complementary to our existing operations and will help us accelerate the Group’s continued development.
“Luke has built an outstanding business founded on delivering excellent service to its partners and customers. It was clear from the outset of our relationship that Lemonaid was a strong cultural fit for Canford.
“We are all looking forward to working together as we continue to build a market-leading specialist legal services group.”
THE NEXT STAGE OF CANFORD GROUP’S DEVELOPMENT

It represents a further step in Canford Group’s strategy of combining sustained organic development with carefully selected acquisitions that add complementary expertise and strengthen the services available to clients.
The Group’s approach will remain selective. Future acquisitions will focus on specialist businesses with strong management teams, established client relationships and cultures aligned with Canford Group’s commitment to its clients, colleagues and service quality.Canford Group will continue to invest in the people, technology and capabilities of its existing businesses while providing each business with the support and resources required for its next stage of development.
