Canford welcomes Martyn Holman to the team

Ex-Brightside and Markerstudy boss Martyn Holman adds Canford Law to portfolio

Martyn Holman has joined Canford Law as a board advisor to help in the strategic development of the business as it seeks new opportunities in the insurance market.

The law firm, which has four offices in the UK, employs around 70 people and its offering includes insurance litigation such as in credit hire cases.

Holman, pictured, told Insurance Age that he had known Canford Law’s managing director David Nash for a few years after first being introduced by a mutual friend.

According to Holman, the business is “looking to kick on further” and having had first-hand experience of the company’s “exceptional service” to insurance industry partners he was confident the offering “stacks up”.

As board advisor, his remit for two days a month, he will be “looking at what they are doing and exploring how they can widen the footprint and get into some other areas linked to insurance that currently they don’t play in,” Holman explained.

Portfolio

The role takes Holman’s portfolio up to six businesses.

The former leader of Brightside and Markerstudy is currently chair of Somerset Bridge Group, chair of e2e Total Loss Management, non-executive director of Bastion Insurance and board advisor to both Incited and Insuretec Ltd.

The latest appointment does not conflict with any current posts, he noted, and indicated it likely completed his suite of roles.

“At the moment, I think that is enough to be able to give them all the time that is required,” Holman said.

Mindset

Nash commented: “I’ve known Martyn on a personal level for a number of years and I believe with his vast experience in the industry, coupled with his forward-thinking mindset and views on the future, make him a great choice of colleague to assist in delivering the next stages of development at Canford Law.”

He added: “Additional growth and significant investment into the firm’s infrastructure is forecast in 2024, and I look forward to working closely with Martyn on some of the ideas already in the pipeline.”
